Holiday Cheer As Promised, My New Editions are Now Available!

4 Dec

They’re Here!

Hey everyone. So despite the frost that is lurking in my yard, threatening to freeze me and my failed car battery to death, there is still an upside! Between jump starting my car (nearly impossible to find a ground point in that thing) and making wedding shower invites for a friend of my mother’s, I have succeeded in getting my new editions of Guardian and Feather online and ready before Christmas!

I am also happy to say that my editor (between delicious glasses of wine that give her her amazing editing powers) is also feverishly working away on Raven! I know she is excited by the fact that my writing skills, grammatically, have vastly improved, because it makes her job easier! AND it makes it so that we can get the story to you sooner. EDITED.

I know that’s been my biggest battle through all this, but it’s nice to learn a little in life, and I have. If it wasn’t for my editor Christina Corlett (Spanish Teacher from New Jersey and author herself) I don’t know what I would do. The best part is that she returns my manuscripts to me in a fashion you would expect from a teacher. I consider her the English-class-I-never-took.

Let’s review some of my reviews!

Sara O’Neil “Anam Cara” from LaGrange, Indiana wrote:

This book is very well written….. I am a media specialist…I buy young adult genre all the time, it’s my job,and this book is a keeper. The story and the characters have depth, and both have been well thought out. So many young adult novels today are very superficial… This novel makes you think about more than clothes, popularity, and boyfriends.
It’s magical….you fall in love with Edgar. Abra makes you feel his pain and darkness. The emptiness that Estella feels is almost palpable. The idea behind this book is brilliant…I love the complexity of the world she has created!
Books of this type help students learn to write better….this type of material takes them outside the box, lets their imagination flow! Kids aren’t using their imaginations these days….I see it all the time in our elementary school, and it’s sad. So many of the children that I read to want books that are “real”. I think because they have such a hard time with the concept of imagining they want material that doesn’t make them think.
This is a wonderful book…..and I love the idea of having the unedited version….the true authors voice, what a teaching tool for students. They learn that you don’t have to be perfect the first time you put words to paper, what really matters is that you write, and write, and write…..

Now, this is a reader that gets it! This was my point, my entire purpose for this whole series! In third grade my teacher nurtured me to be creative, and so did my parents. They always said, “Never let go of your creativity, because it is the thing that sets you apart…” This is very true. My whole goal is to help people understand that creativity is not something to be afraid of. There is no such thing as a bad story, or a sloppy painting!

The world has become so desensitized, that we are afraid to set ourselves apart from all the rest. Don’t be afraid! I get some rather mean comments about my writing at times, but it doesn’t discourage me because in my heart I know that I am doing what I love, and what I love is to write stories! It’s whatever I want it to be, and that’s what makes it all so fun! If I want someone to fly, they will! There is no right or wrong…

Thank you Sara, I loved it 🙂

A Little Christmas Funny to Get In The Spirit…

28 Nov

I love watching these, plus Mannheim Steamroller is the best!

My Thursday Inspiration…

19 Nov

It’s a rainy day, or rather it will be. A hawk is stalking my cat as he sits in the window… I’d like to see it try. My neighbors still have Halloween decorations out. Yeah. It’s almost Thanksgiving. I’m thinking about sending out Christmas cards this year. Handmade of course. My friend is going to start decorating the inside of her house this week for Christmas! How Fun!

I saw the movie Bride Wars last night before I went to Bunco with my friends! Funny movie, funny funny… etc. Bunco was great! As always! I never win, though 😦

Got a ton of writing done yesterday, so Knight Angels: Gifted, is now at 43,136 word count! Yeah!

I can’t believe it’s already been a year since I released my first book!

So this song I heard with I was at lunch with my husband and in-laws yesterday. I’ve heard it lots of times before, but everytime I do it always makes me want to cry, or do something epic, lol.

So for all of ya! Here it is!

A Double Divorced Family Christmas…

1 Jan

My family is not divorced, but being recently married, the holidays seem challenging enough for me, let alone my friend whom has recently been engaged and both, her side, and her fiance’s side, are double divorced…

That’s a big family. I’m bringing it up because today she is attending her eighth “Christmas” and I can see the disdain in her eyes. She is DONE with the holiday, not to mention having to buy gifts for all those people.

For heaven’s sake, they need to come up with some sort of system, or at least learn to get along for one day out of the year. Which I understand is a lot to ask, especially if the circumstances are unsavory.

My heart just goes out to all those families out there with multiple Christmas’s, toppling the average “two” we typically have…

The upside is, she has a ton of gift cards, and I love gift cards. THAT, and they got two copies of Mama Mia, Hitchcock, and Batman, that means I score the duplicates! YAY…

I’m a little concerned my deck will fall off…

1 Jan

I hope everyone had a lovely night, I had fun, ordered Chinese, had champagne, ran the gamut of typical new years eve traditions, except I kicked ass playing Wii bowl…

Anyways, my point. My computer sits next to a window that looks out on my deck. I still have my tomato plants out there, what can I say…I’m lazy. BUT the deck has about 3 feet of snow on it, I wish I could show you, but I haven’t found my iphone yet today…

It’s also still snowing, and the wet heavy kind. But I suppose I was going to get the deck replaced ANYWAYS, so if it falls off, insurance  will pay for it. There’s also an old futon out there, now I really feel like a pack rat, but I actually keep a rather clean house, it’s just that I’m remodeling…

anyways, just thought I’d voice my concerns for my deck…

My sink is frozen and water is all over the floor…

22 Dec

So I’m sitting here writing, and the plumber is working to de-thaw all my frozen supply lines…

guess the sink drain was frozen too, and now it’s all over the floor, and my feet are resting in two cold puddles of utter discomfort…

It will evaporate, there’s nothing for it to hurt. I’m 15 feet above a lake on stilts and the floor boards are pretty much the old dock, so I’ll just have to wait untill the water seeps through, and the heated floors in the bathroom make it evaporate…

the cat doesn’t like it much either, he’s walking through the puddle and howling bloody murder…

Merry Christmas Me…
