THE GREAT DIGITAL VS. PALPABLE GAMBLE…

20 Aug

The Setting…

BUNCO NIGHT

(and lots of sangria)

The Debate…

The Split…

50/50

As a writer, I can’t help but love a book… a palpable, paper filled, good smelling, one pound miracle with a raised color cover. BUT there are those out there that LOVE their new Kindles all the same. I see nothing wrong with loving either because each has a slew of valid arguements, of which I won’t begin to list because by now, we all know what those are.

What I’m interested in is a vote!

I’ve seen what direction my books sales weight in, and I know what most people are buying these days, but I’m not telling which is more popular: The Book, or the Machine. I just want to know what you think…

Cabin Fever

13 Apr

Yeah. Cabin Fever.

Everytime I finish a book, this is me. I run out of things to do, and I’m so used to being inside, that the thought of even approaching my door seems daunting

and the car is getting an oil change, so I have no car.

I feel like I need an adventure! And not just any adventure, but Indiana Jones, James bond, go on a vacation, adventure.

But I don’t have my car.

So a walk around the neighborhood in the rain will have to do.

Teaser Tuesday: Talking Characters, Literally…

23 Mar

So, I decided to go ahead and talk Feather Book Series characters today. Why not throw in a few fun pics of what I see as Elle, Edgar, Sam, and Margriete, shall we?

Estella

Estella, Estella… What a sad little soul, ha ha.

And yes, Julianne Hough is the closest thing I can think of!! This is fun (or is it funny?)

Edgar

Poor dark Edgar…

And yes, James McAvoy (I just love him!)

Sam

Yep, Sam. Cool, calm and collected, Sam…

No one better than Brian Greenberg

Margriete

The Best Friend…

Fantastic Friday: Mailmen and New Book Covers

12 Mar

I am still anxiously awaiting my edited manuscript. I have positioned myself in the chir that looks out the window at the mailbox…

I wish there was some dance you could do to make the mailman come faster…

What really makes me anxious is the fact that the mailman never comes at the same time every day. What I’f I’m in the shower?? Most of the time I have to sign for my manuscript, and that alone makes me anxious…

What I need to do is track him down…

Maybe that’s a bit too manic??

Well, anyways. I have things to distract me ’till then, like planning for the Alice in Wonderland party tonight. My friend and I are throwing one. It’s just a small get together, but that doesn’t stop us from making it great! We’re making cupcakes, and I bought peeps in every color. I’m also making Cougar Gold Cheese dip. If you’ve never had Couger Gold, then shame on you!!! It’s only the best cheese in the world, and I’m not kidding.
Absolutely worth ordering online and having shipped to your house. You don’t know what you’re missing!!!
Winning Cover

So, after a few days of voting and commenting, I’ve come to a decision. It was a hard decision to make because most of you chose something different, and you all had a good reason why!!! The conclusion I came to is that I will be using the first three covers throughout the series since all were loved. I felt that based on the story, this cover should go first:

It’s soft and sweet, and a little bit mysterious. This embodies the mood of the characters at this point of the story. They’re somber and isolated – locked in worlds of their own. For now, this cover embodies the essence of what I want to convey about Knight Angels.

Manic Monday: More Things to do with Books!

22 Feb

Still looking for more things to do with that collection of books? Well, stick with me and I’ll never let you down! The above photo shows books hung by strings. This utilizes space in a completely new way. If you’re one of those lucky enough to have your own library, this would be a great addition to an empty corner. This also applies for any corner!

In a children’s room perhaps? So cute!

Not willing to ruin your books?

Try going to the local Good Will store and peruse their selection. It’s likely you can pick up a few books for 25 cents, and you won’t feel so guilty stabbing a drill through beloved stories.

What you need:

Heavy duty cotton twine (Colorful ribbon works great, too!!!! Especially in a kids room! raid the sale bin at your local craft store.)

Books

A little hook to hang from ceiling.

Drill with a bit long enough to go the depth of your longest book.

What to do:

Take your book and center drill on cover. Drill (Slowly please. No need to burn down the house)

Take your ribbon and tie a knot. Lace through hole you made (if you use a length of wire and fold it in half, you can use it as a needle, especially for thick ribbon) let the book rest on knot. You can make another knot on the other side of you like, it does look neat if ribbon was your choice.

Repeat and hang on ceiling hook! Viola!!

Freaky Friday: The Mothman Prophecies

19 Feb

Books and movies that thoroughly creeped me out, yep.
It happens…

One of the biggest and BEST movies and books I’ve seen is the Mothman Prophecies. I have literally spent the last two years trying to remember that this was indeed that movie with the whole ‘you have chap stick in your pocket’ line. It finally hit me the other night after three glasses of wine. I was screaming on the couch with joy!
This weekend, my goal is to watch this again. Just not tonight, I have Bunko

Friday Book Trailers!!

19 Feb

Yay! Just what I needed in the middle of the week – a break from books! Well, sort of.

I decided that today I wanted to talk about book trailers! I recently made two new trailers for my new series, which I will share below, but there are so many other trailers out there as well! I’ve decided to compile the trailers to some of my favorite books, also…
