More International Interest – Turkey

15 Aug

On Friday I was made an offer to bring the Feather Book Series and Knight Angels Series to Turkey! I was very excited, and find the opportunity another unique advance in reaching the world with my stories! I haven’t yet signed any contracts, but plan to. The publisher is Artemis:

They have a lot of great titles, a beautiful site, and the chief editor is very nice!

Just another exciting opportunity!!

Getting a Brazilian!

8 Jul

I knew that would get your attention…

But… it’s not me getting a Brazilian, it’s Knight Angels. Just yesterday we began negotiating a contract with a publisher in Brazil to bring the book into the Portuguese language! If all goes well, the book will be available within the next eighteen months in hardcover, paperback, e-book, and most every other form.

While on the topic of Knight Angels, I want to let everyone know that we are working as hard as we can to get the next book out by the end of this summer, though it seems it will likely leak into early fall. That’s just the way things go sometimes! Bummer…

Before the Sun Comes Up: Contests

14 Apr

I love getting up before the sun. It feels like your little secret, doesn’t it?

So, back to business! For my sunrise post today it’s all about beginnings! Brenda Pandos is a friend of mine, and she is currently in the throws of the third round of the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award Contest, beating out close to 9,500 other writers to get there! She is a new author, and has been working on her book for over a year now.

What can you do to help?

That is a novel (get it, novel?) question! Go to this link below and read her excerpt and write a review! It’s actually really fun to be a part of this. Think American Idol without the weird outfits and hair…

And look at that. Now the sun is up and shinning on my chair by the window… This bites. Time to make the coffee!!

Cabin Fever

13 Apr

Yeah. Cabin Fever.

Everytime I finish a book, this is me. I run out of things to do, and I’m so used to being inside, that the thought of even approaching my door seems daunting

and the car is getting an oil change, so I have no car.

I feel like I need an adventure! And not just any adventure, but Indiana Jones, James bond, go on a vacation, adventure.

But I don’t have my car.

So a walk around the neighborhood in the rain will have to do.

Knight Angels now Available on Kindle and Amazon. Barnes and Noble. And others to come… (nook, sony e-reader, iPad…)

Manic Monday: iPad iBooks, Waiting on the Mailman, and Shiver Book Review…

5 Apr
We Finally Meet iPhone’s Mama…
Well, I guess I should say that no, I did not run out and buy one. I’m an author, and quite frankly, an iPad won’t do much good for me other than reading books (typing without real keys = not going to happen). At the rate I read books, though, the screen will hurt my eyes.
I think it should have been named iTab…
Anyways. So my books are making their way into the iBookstore, if they’re not on there already. I got a notification telling me Feather: Book One made it, and so far that makes me very happy. So all you iPad-dlers out there, look for me 😀
Also look for me, coming soon to: Sony e-reader, Barnes and Noble Nook, and just about any other form, including in the Indonesian market, in your language! That’s right, we’re going global.
Waiting on the Mailman…

I’m awaiting my Author Review Copy of Knight Angels. Very Exciting!
He never comes at the same time, and there’s no way of knowing if it will come today, or tomorrow. It’s killing me, and it’s so fun to finally get to see what it’s going to look like in person!
*biting nails*
Shiver Book Review…
Ah, I love holidays.
I read the whole book cover to cover yesterday, and I don’t think I could have done it any other way. I am a sucker for romantic stories of star-crossed lovers. I figured that was rather obvious because of my writing…
I regret that I waited this long to read this book, and no, that does not mean I finished Beautiful Creatures. I’m still knawing my way through that one, not that it’s bad, it just wasn’t my taste. It’s like wine – personal taste.
what made it better was the fact it was cold and windy yesterday, so I really got a sense of the story. Of course today it snowed again, like it did friday… Gotta love April.

Look Who’s Getting a Makeover!

24 Mar

Hello!

So, for a while now there has been something itching me when it comes to the Parallel book cover and title. I don’t, or didn’t, think it portrayed the right feel pertaining to what the book was all about. It seemed too ‘sci-fi’ which it’s not. Above all, it’s another love story just like the Feather Book Series

Here was the old cover…

It was cute, I get that, but do you agree? It tells you NOTHING!!!!

LOL

Now, though, things have really begun to change! Parallel is taking on a newer, more gentle feel. Lovey-Dovey you may say…

Here it is:

Teaser Tuesday: Talking Characters, Literally…

23 Mar

So, I decided to go ahead and talk Feather Book Series characters today. Why not throw in a few fun pics of what I see as Elle, Edgar, Sam, and Margriete, shall we?

Estella

Estella, Estella… What a sad little soul, ha ha.

And yes, Julianne Hough is the closest thing I can think of!! This is fun (or is it funny?)

Edgar

Poor dark Edgar…

And yes, James McAvoy (I just love him!)

Sam

Yep, Sam. Cool, calm and collected, Sam…

No one better than Brian Greenberg

Margriete

Family Friday: Brother and Pulled Pork

19 Mar

My Brother Finally Visits

My brother is in town. Yep, Chris. He hasn’t seen my house in three years and it’s changed by leaps and bounds. The first time he came he was sleeping on the bare subfloor in a sleeping bag. Now, we have a real guest room for him. He brought his girlfriend, Jennifer, who I really like. She’s a flight attendant and my brother is a pilot – so cliche!

Growing up my brother and I were good friends, and my husband (whom we’ve known since we were five) was my brother’s bully, lol. Basically it’s an interesting situation when the whole family gets together, and the look on Stewy’s face above is what you see…

Fun, fun!

Pulled Pork

So, I pulled the tension together with a little pulled pork! I love pulled Pork, and I like to serve it on those little hawaiian sweet rools like a ‘mini-burger’

I use store-bought coleslaw, and follow this recipe by ‘Eating Well’ and I also make it in a crock pot and let it cook all day, basically, the only thing I do use is the ingredients 🙂

Ingredients

1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil

2 medium yellow onions, diced

2 tablespoons chili powder

1 tablespoon cumin

2 teaspoons paprika

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

12 ounces beer, preferably lager (1 1/2 cups)

3/4 cup ketchup

3/4 cup cider vinegar

1/2 cup whole-grain mustard

2 tablespoons tomato paste (see Ingredient notes)

1 canned chipotle pepper in adobo sauce, minced, plus 1 tablespoon adobo sauce

1 5-pound bone-in Boston butt (see Ingredient notes)

Directions

Preheat oven to 300°F. Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-low heat. Add onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned and very soft, about 20 minutes.

Increase heat to high; add chili powder, cumin, paprika and cayenne and cook, stirring, until fragrant, 1 minute. Add beer, ketchup, vinegar, mustard, tomato paste, chipotle pepper and adobo sauce; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is slightly thickened, 10 minutes. Meanwhile, trim all visible fat from the pork.

Remove the pan from the heat and add the pork, spooning sauce over it. Cover the pan, transfer to the oven and bake for 1 1/2 hours. Turn the pork over, cover, and bake for 1 1/2 hours more. Uncover and bake until a fork inserted into the meat turns easily, 1 to 2 hours more.

Transfer the pork to a large bowl and cover with foil. Pour the sauce into a large measuring cup or glass bowl and refrigerate until the fat and sauce begin to separate, 15 minutes. Skim off the fat. Return the sauce to the pan and heat over medium-high until hot, about 4 minutes.

Remove the bone and any remaining pieces of fat from the meat. The bone should easily slip away from the tender meat. Pull the pork apart into long shreds using two forks. Add the hot sauce to the meat; stir to combine. Serve hot.

Fantastic Friday: Mailmen and New Book Covers

12 Mar

I am still anxiously awaiting my edited manuscript. I have positioned myself in the chir that looks out the window at the mailbox…

I wish there was some dance you could do to make the mailman come faster…

What really makes me anxious is the fact that the mailman never comes at the same time every day. What I’f I’m in the shower?? Most of the time I have to sign for my manuscript, and that alone makes me anxious…

What I need to do is track him down…

Maybe that’s a bit too manic??

Well, anyways. I have things to distract me ’till then, like planning for the Alice in Wonderland party tonight. My friend and I are throwing one. It’s just a small get together, but that doesn’t stop us from making it great! We’re making cupcakes, and I bought peeps in every color. I’m also making Cougar Gold Cheese dip. If you’ve never had Couger Gold, then shame on you!!! It’s only the best cheese in the world, and I’m not kidding.
Absolutely worth ordering online and having shipped to your house. You don’t know what you’re missing!!!
Winning Cover

So, after a few days of voting and commenting, I’ve come to a decision. It was a hard decision to make because most of you chose something different, and you all had a good reason why!!! The conclusion I came to is that I will be using the first three covers throughout the series since all were loved. I felt that based on the story, this cover should go first:

It’s soft and sweet, and a little bit mysterious. This embodies the mood of the characters at this point of the story. They’re somber and isolated – locked in worlds of their own. For now, this cover embodies the essence of what I want to convey about Knight Angels.

Book Cover Dilema: Revision Number… One Million?

9 Mar

So, I keep going back and forth with this new cover…

I make a cover, and then a few weeks later I always start thinking – it could be better…

So, once again I am going to leave the choice up to you. In all actuality, the four new samples almost make a great coupling! I should use them all in the entire series!

For right now they’re going to have stock photo lines, so try to ignore that part. I don’t want to buy the photo if I won’t be using it.

Also ignore, if you can, the poor photo quality, again it’s ‘web’ so… But do give me your opinions and vote!
